INSPIRATION: For Gao Xiang, the horse is a complex force that not only holds the mysteries of the universe and Chinese traditions but is also a symbolic extension of his soul. The figure of a man is small in relation to the mystery and power of the horse. The title also alludes to an ancient Chinese myth about Hou Yi or “Lord Archer” who, in a world of 10 suns, shot down nine of them at the behest of his King and saved the earth from being scorched.
