Levan Lagidze - a Retrospective

This week marks the opening in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, of a must see major retrospective by Georgia’s iconic Levan Lagidze at the national art museum - the Shalva Amiranashvili Museum of Fine Art. Set over two floors of 1,500sq m in the museum’s impressive, vast new wing - the opening of which the exhibition launches - Lagidze’s multifaceted art has space to breathe and unfold to its true potential.

The exhibition comprises over 120 paintings sourced mainly from private collections. Alongside spectacular new and recent works and unusual transitional paintings, the retrospective traces his art from the late ‘80s, revealing soulful and thoughtful pieces that I (having represented him for the past 6 years and having seen his archival photos) have never seen before.

A transformative experience. On through 18 August.
