Working in Sao Paolo and London, the Brazilian-Italian artist Mariannita Luzzati explores the allure of landscapes and their interaction with humankind.

Her often large-scale paintings - often untitled - play with visual ambiguity and light. Looking at her art I get a feeling of both timelessness and separation, as if the landscape is both eternal and set apart from me, existing in a kind of parallel universe that I can glimpse but not enter.

Born in São Paolo, Brazil in 1963 to italian parents, Mariannita Luzzati spent her childhood between São Paolo and Milan, graduating from the Instituto per l’Arte and il Restauro, Florence. Widely exhibited internationally, she is the winner of the 1991 Grand Prize, National Art Salon, Brazil and the 1993 Acquisition Award at the Tokyo Machida City Museum. In 2021, the Figueiredo Ferraz Institute (Ribeirão Preto, Brazil), held a large retrospective exhibition of her work, entitled “Paisagens Possíveis" (Possible Landscapes).
